FAQ:

Is Teeth Whitening treatment for everyone?

The DaVinci Elite™ Teeth Whitening treatment provides results for anyone who wants to whiten their teeth. This includes people with teeth that have been stained by smoking or by substances such as red wine, tea or coffee. It will also lighten teeth stained by tetracycline, speckled by fluoride, or hereditary discoloration however often further treatments are required to achieve the desired result. Teeth Whitening is not recommended for pregnant or breastfeeding women and children under the age of 16.

Why should I consider Teeth Whitening?

Studies have shown that people with whiter teeth look younger and that there is a correlation between high self-esteem and a bright, confident smile. Teeth whitening is a personal preference.

How white will my teeth get?

After undergoing whitening with the DaVinci Elite™ iBrite™ Teeth Whitening System, teeth shades can brighten between 2 to 5 shades in one treatment session (and very often more). Using the DaVinci Elite™Teeth Whitening Shade Guide you will be able to track the improvement of your teeth whitening. Although individual results will depend on how discolored the teeth were initially, the end result will be brighter, whiter teeth. Remember, everyone's teeth are different and your teeth will only go as white as your teeth will allow. Everyone's teeth have a stopping point.

How long will the whitening last?

This varies from person to person and depends on your diet, lifestyle and oral hygiene. Realistically, the whitening effect can last up to a 1 year... maybe longer but it will depend on lifestyle. Periodic treatments are recommended for people who frequently consume products such as coffee, dark fizzy drinks, red wine, tomato sauce or use other products such as tobacco.

Is Teeth Whitening safe?

Yes, our products and equipment are approved and scientific research has shown that the active ingredients in the DaVinci Teeth Elite™ Whitening Gels which are manufactured in California USA are safe and effective. The dental community has used the same active ingredients in teeth whitening for years. The DaVinci Elite™ Teeth Whitening Gel does not change or damage the structure of the teeth but merely oxidises the stains, making your teeth brighter.

How effective is the iBrite LED Light?

The iBrite Light is LED, NOT UV. There is no potentially harmful exposure that leads to burning or blistering. The DaVinci Elite Whitening Gels and iBrite Light are calibrated to effectively and quickly whiten the teeth.

How long does the treatment take?

A treatment normally takes around 60 minutes depending on the discoloration of your teeth. It takes no longer than the time it would for you to have a haircut or a facial - it is that simple! You can have additional treatments which will create an even whiter result however this always depends on the original colour of your teeth.

What is the difference between DaVinci Elite™ Teeth Whitening and teeth whitening performed in a dental clinic?

The DaVinci salon teeth whitening system uses the same technology as dental clinics for power whitening and gives you great results. However, DaVinci Elite™ cosmetic teeth whitening is self administered and uses gels that have been specially developed and approved for the cosmetic industry.

Does it hurt?

Most people experience no pain or sensitivity during or after a treatment however a small percentage of may feel some minor tooth sensitivity, especially if they consume very cold or hot food or drinks within two hours after the treatment. The DaVinci Elite system utilises the REMI Paste which may assist with any post whitening sensitivity. A dental treatment typically utilises a higher percentage of peroxide that may create more sensitivity.

What if my gums bleed?

If your gums are bleeding or bleed occasionally you may have gum disease such as gingivitis or it could be due to taking certain medications such as the contraceptive pill. It is recommended that you do not have your teeth whitened until you have this problem rectified. You should visit your dentist.

What if I swallow the whitening gel ?

In most cases it is hard to avoid swallowing a small amount and don't worry, it is normal. What you swallow is mostly water as the Hydrogen Peroxide converts into water and oxygen which is what oxidises the stains.

Will whitening my teeth have any effect on my gums?

Occasionally the gums may experience some bleaching particularly if you have short teeth or gums that are prominent between the teeth. The bleaching effect on the gums will only last about 15-20 minutes and then disappear. The application of REMI Paste to the teeth and gums after the whitening treatment will assist or massage a small amount of Vitamin E oil to the gum. The positive outcome of any gum bleaching is that it may have highlighted an undiagnosed periodontal problem. The whitening gel in this case will kill any associated bacteria.

Will Teeth Whitening work on crowns and fillings?

DaVinci Elite™ Teeth Whitening will remove stains from composite materials but will not whiten the crown or filling beyond the original color. If you have a crown or filling in your smile line, we would only recommend teeth whitening if your natural teeth are darker than the crown or filling. Teeth whitening may be an option if you plan to replace the crown or filling after your whitening treatment.

There are Toothpastes that say they whiten teeth, why can't I just use that?

Whitening Toothpastes will eliminate some stains caused by tea or coffee taken during the day however they are not strong enough to have an effect on those stains that have been developing over the years and actually are within the enamel. If you want to remove those intrinsic and extrinsic stains, the DaVinci Elite Chairside Treatment is the system to use.

I have heard that Teeth Whitening products can have a bad effect on tooth enamel?

The DaVinci Elite Whitening Gels are non-acidic with dental grade hydrogen peroxide which is nothing like the bleach you use to clean your basins and toilet. These types of cleaning bleaches break down into chlorine. The dental grade hydrogen peroxide which is in the DaVinci Elite pre-filled foam mouth trays are placed onto the surface of the teeth and the iBrite Light activated at which time the hydrogen peroxide converts into water and oxygen. The oxygen penetrates through the pores of the enamel (pores like you have in your skin) and bleaches the stains. It is very important that you use whitening gels that are non-acidic otherwise they can ruin your teeth and strip tooth enamel.

 REMI Paste:

REMI Paste is a naturally derived topical paste specially formulated to reduce sensitivity after teeth whitening procedures, while enhancing teeth enamel remineralisation. REMI Paste provides teeth the much-needed minerals lost during the bleaching process therefore effectively reducing the risk of whitening effect rebound often seen immediately after a whitening procedure. It maximizes the user’s comfort and gives whitening procedures the much-needed reinforcement.

REMI Paste can also be used by people with sensitive teeth. Used regularly, REMI will assist in keeping teeth sensitivity controlled.

How to apply REMI Paste?

REMI Paste is applied topically to at-risk surfaces. This can be done by first cleaning the teeth and then smearing a small amount of REMI Paste across the teeth with a clean finger or cotton-tipped applicator.

When applied immediately before bed, the material is then left in place to dissolve slowly overnight

How soon after I whiten my teeth do I apply REMI Paste?

After brushing with an over the counter fluoride toothpaste immediately apply a small amount of REMI Paste to the tooth surfaces using either a clean finger or a cotton bud.

With so many other options available for dentinal hypersensitivity, why REMI Paste?

When REMI Paste with CPP-ACFP* is applied onto the surface of dentin, the protein component bonds strongly and subsequently mineral plugs form, which begin to block the tubules. Several clinical studies have shown that REMI Paste has a potent long acting desensitising effect when used in people with cervical sensitive dentin.

REMI Paste with CPP-ACFP* applied regularly provides both immediate and l.e of chronic tooth sensitivity.

Is REMI Paste safe for people with milk allergies?

The active ingredient in REMI Paste/REMI Paste is CPP-ACFP*.CPP-ACFP* is milk derived and should not be used by people with milk protein allergies. Casein phosphopeptides are derived from milk casein. Do not use REMI Paste if you have a proven or suspected milk protein (IgE) allergy.

What is the pH of REMI Paste?

The pH of REMI Paste is 7.5, it is considered a neutral pH based on a range of 0 – 14 scale.

Does REMI Paste contain any ingredients that could be harmful to porcelain veneers or their bond to tooth structure?

REMI Paste does not contain any ingredients that will have a negative effect on porcelain veneers or bonding. We have not received any complaints that porcelain does not bond to tooth surfaces for patients who uses REMI Paste. Of course, it should not be used in the middle of a bonding procedure

CAUTION

REMI Paste contains 0.2% (900ppm) fluoride. It is not recommend for children under six.
It is not recommended for overnight application in children under 12.
Do not use if you have a milk protein allergy (casein IgE) and/or sensitivity to benzoate preservatives
